There's nothing quite like the clean, classy look of the Selectric typeface!
I can identify with your thoughts about new ribbons; I don't like posting typecasts on old and faded ones. So several of my typers were "held hostage" until the new ribbons arrived a few days ago.
I don't agree with so many bloggers that Selectrics are soul-less. I worked on them for many years in my youth and they definitely have personalities, and are precision machines on top of it. Prestige Elite is such a fine typestyle to use when one is single-spacing dense copy. It may not be exciting like those 'robot' fonts floating around right now but for communication it's hard to beat. Prestige Pica is just as good. I still have a couple of Selectrics and a few dozen balls, don't use it all the time but I still visit. Your copy looks great, and I always enjoy visiting. Thanks for sharing with us!

ReplyDeleteI like the way an old ribbon gives the Prying-OCR-Spybots fits. Especially when I'm typing with my tinfoil hat on.
ReplyDeleteExcellent typeface and print. And thank you for the story.
